george herbert...

The choir at church had a performance tonight to highlight the works of George Herbert. It was lovely (and not just because there was childcare available - so I could actually listen).

Andrew and the choir were wonderful tonight. The pieces that Noah and David arranged were beautiful. Wine and cheese afterwards - simply, a great evening.

valentines...

Alright, so I am a little late with this one. Bookmark it for next year - if you like it.

Matt decided he wanted store-bought valentines. It almost killed me to not go OCD and make him valentine's, but I let him buy the ones from the store - and somehow the world didn't come to an end (interesting, huh?). However, next year I am making them. ;-)

Molly (as usual) let me make them for her friends. We talked about doing something we had already done (new school, different friends), but she was determined to come up with her own idea. After a little brainstorming (and teasing about the fact that the 3rd grade did a presentation called "Third Graders Have Rocks In Their Heads") - we decided on pet rocks for her classmates...

Super easy project. Sadly, I left my camera at work the day we finished them... but, we put them in cellophane bags with some red/pink shredded paper. We tied the tops with ribbon and added the note

"_________ You Rock!!!! Happy Valentine's Day! From, Molly"

chuck e. cheese...

Let's be honest, I am a fan of the mouse... Mickey Mouse.

Chuck E. Cheese, not so much.

The place drives me crazy. Kids running rampant everywhere, a noise level that is not safe for anyone, crummy pizza, warm soda, etc. However, I had taken Molly for a day out with Grandma Doris to the American Girl Store and told Matt that we would have a special outing too. Anywhere he wanted to go. He picked Chuck E. Cheese and he was SO excited and SO cute about it, I couldn't say no.

While the place did nothing to change my earlier opinions of it, the smile on Matt's face makes it really hard to not go back...

iPhone...

After waiting and waiting...

I got an iPhone!!!!! To say that I am in love with it, is probably the understatement of the year! It is so much fun!!!!!

Yes, it's a phone that plays music, takes pictures, has Internet access, etc., etc... but the ABSOLUTE best part is the aps for kids... I mean come on, the fact that my kids can "Dress Chica" and I can get some shopping done - PRICELESS.

sad day...

My cat Cleo died today. It was a rough morning. Not only did I lose my kitty of 17 years, the kids took it hard.

Molly cried a little, but kept it together pretty well. Matt on the other hand...

let me just preface this next comment with the fact that Matt really didn't like Cleo. If Cleo was in the room he would cry until one of us picked Cleo up and took her away from Matt. He drove us crazy with the constant - where is Cleo now? questions... anyways...

When we told Matt that Cleo was gone he began to sob - LOUDLY! He was inconsolable. Finally, I said to Matt: "But, I thought you didn't like Cleo?" To which he responded (without missing a beat - but between the tears and sobs) "Just because you hate someone, it doesn't mean you don't love them!"

This kid is wise beyond his years.

valentine's dance...

The dance was a success!!!!

In the end we had about 150 people (not too shabby).

Everyone had a good time and we made a little money for the PTO.

Molly and her girlfriends danced the night away...

Teachers showed up to help work...

and none of this would have been possible without the best officers that any PTO president could ask for...

rainbows...

I am hoping that seeing a rainbow is a sign of good luck - because I saw the most beautiful rainbow this morning. Matt and I spotted it behind his school. It was amazing - we could see where it started and where it ended.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the entire arch in the picture and by the time I had dropped Matt off in his classroom and went back to take another picture it was gone.

Even though it was only there for a second - it completely made my day.

more valentine's day stuff...

The PTO school dance is this friday and everyone is getting excited.

I have been making fortune cookies all week and have finally finished. While waiting for their parents at report card conferences last night, I put many kids to work cutting hearts out of contruction paper and writing cute sayings on them (in English and Spanish - although I was told there were no Spanish conversation hearts).

Since this is the PTO's first dance ever - I am hoping that it is a success. I will post pictures over the weekend of how we set the tables, etc.

we are going to DISNEY WORLD...

I am so excited I could jump out of my skin!!!!! After a three and a half year hiatus from visiting the best place on the planet, we are finally returning to our "home" in March!

I don't know who is more excited for this trip, the kids or me (yes, I do... it's me!!! I am SO EXCITED!!!!)

I can't stop thinking about things we will do while we are there. Yay!!! I can't wait!!!

See how little Molly was the last time we were there. I wonder if she'll want to dye her hair pink and sparkly again - yeah, right. ;)

valentine fortune cookies...

I think I saw these on Martha's website and decided to give them a shot.

First, I cut 100+ red felt circles. Then Martha said to glue wire to the circle and cover that with ribbon - I am lazy and decided to make life easier by just glueing chenille stems (aka pipe cleaners) to them instead. Once dry, fold the circle in half. Then pinch the two wire ends towards each other. (Does that sound difficult - because trust me, these were a piece of cake.)

I am making these for the PTO Valentine Family Dance next week. I think they will be cute scattered on the tables.

Christmas gift cards...

Molly and I finally got a few minutes alone today at the mall (thanks Andrew!) So, we did a little shopping at Limited Too (aka Justice). Grandma Jane gave Molly a gift certificate for Christmas - and she has been DYING to spend it...

Her favorite outfit (complete with purse and new necklace...

The "I Love Lucy" dress that we both LOVED! Even though she had no idea what I Love Lucy was...

An action shot. Can you tell she loves to ham it up for the camera...

The best part of all this... EVERYTHING WAS ON CLEARANCE!!!!! I love it when the shopping planets align like that.
