another Mattism...

Okay, I know I just posted one yesterday... but this one cracked us up!

Andrew was driving through New Haven with the kids in the car. He saw a homeless man while stopped at a red light, unrolled his window, handed him a few bucks, the light turned green and he drove off.

Matt: Dad, why did you give that guy money?

Andrew: Because he was hungry.

Matt: (after a moment of silence) Is he gonna eat the dollars?

My boy is simply priceless!!!!!

mattisms....

The Sound of Music has completely taken over my life. So much so that my darling 3 year old looked at me this morning (as I was leaving for work) and said... "Your leaving me again?"

I thought I might cry, until he followed it up with... "Good, can you buy me a new superhero?" I think he will survive this adventure just fine.

Last Sunday, the kids and I were playing restaurant... you know two waiters one customer. Molly quickly took my order and filled it exactly as ordered (no matter what I ordered). Matt, on the other hand, had rules for me to follow.

First, I could only order things at a pizza restaurant. So I ordered a cheese grater. He squealed and told me I was wrong. This went on and on, until he limited my choices to "pizza only". Choosing a pizza can be quite involved and I tried to think of one with every topping imaginable (yes, I do take great joy in teasing my children), ordering my pizza with glee waiting for the squeal... and I didn't get one. Instead, Matt picked up his Buzz Lightyear phone, hit a bunch of buttons and ordered the pizza.

Mom: "Matt what are you doing?"

Matt: "I'm ordering the pizza."

Mom: "But, I thought you were a pizza restaurant?"

Matt: "I am - this is how you make pizza."

I guess we order out too much...

first dress rehearsal...

Is it bad luck that we didn't even make through the whole show? We stopped one scene short of finishing.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day (or is that another show).

Maria teaches the children to chicken dance.

Rolf tries to convince Liesl he isn't SO scary!

(sorry for the crummy pictures... I really need to learn how to use this camera better - especially indoors)!

it's beginning to feel a lot like... Austria!

Wow... less than two weeks until show night. It is hard to believe that we started talking about this in February and it is almost over!

Don't you love a nun with a pedicure?
The sets are simply amazing. I am in awe of other people's talents...
Why yes that is our altar and choir stalls crammed into the Lady Chapel.

So although our music director has been held up in his home state... and the sound system hasn't been installed yet... and who knows how ticket sales are coming... and there are about a billion little things left to do...

The show will go on!!!!!!

Cape Cod and the 4th of July...

I finally joined Andrew and the kids on the Cape late Thursday night. It was so great to see many of my brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

We had a lot of fun with everyone. I really miss my nieces and nephews already. I have A LOT of nieces and nephews and they are each very special to me - and I could never pick favorites - BUT, it was so great to have my niece (20 yrs old) and my nephew (18 yrs old) out from Seattle. I really wish they lived closer.

One of the highlights of the weekend was Cookie's (Matt's sidekick) mini-golf adventure...

Cookie lines up his putt...

So close...

Nice putt...

Way to go, Cookie!
