mr. potato head...

Here is Andrew's last-minute Halloween costume...

It's amazing what you can do with felt and fun foam! The pieces are removeable and can be switched for other pieces. I think the kids in his class are going to LOVE this!!!

mattism...

At the pet store today (while looking at the puppies)...

Matt: I would like an Underdog.

Me: Well, there is a beagle right there that looks like Underdog.

Matt: Can he fly?

Me: No.

Matt: Then that's not Underdog. Can you ask if they have one?

Blessing of the Animals...

One of the many reasons that my family joined St. Thomas's in New Haven is because they know how to have fun. Whether it is the full-scale musical that we put on this summer, the Hogwart's event at Halloween, or just hanging out... we all truly enjoy each others company. But don't think we limit this welcome to just humans... oh no! We welcome the animals right into church to be blessed (and what fun it is to see all those dogs, cats, hermit crabs, etc. in church).

Matt and Molly brought the school pets to this year's blessing (I don't think our cats would have liked it much). Matt claimed ownership of a chinese dwarf hamster and Molly claimed a hermit crab. They were very proud of their "pets" and brought them right up to Father Ray and Mother Mo for blessing. (I just love the picture of Mother Mo holding the hermit crab).

South Windsor Heritage Day...

Grandma Jane invited us to South Windsor to go to Heritage Day. It is a completely adorable small town celebration. Molly was intrigued by bee-keepers, how they spun yarn out of wool, and the local girl scouts table (where they had several games/crafts for kids). Matt loved the animals... the three-legged turtle (who was VERY fast considering he only had 3 legs), the pony ride, and the sheep that escaped and was running rampant through the festival (with several grown-ups chasing it - Matt couldn't stop laughing).
